About
Ashishma Nakarmi is a versatile Nepali actress, model, and singer who has carved a prominent niche in both the Nepali and Nepal Bhasa (Newari) film industries. Born on November 22, 1988, in Balambhu, Kathmandu, she hails from a distinguished musical family; her father, Mana Raj Nakarmi, is a renowned Tabala player. Ashishma’s artistic journey began with music and pageantry; she was the runner-up of Miss South Asia Texas 2012 while studying in the United States. She made her professional acting debut in the Nepal Bhasa film Nyalla Bya, where her performance as Timila made her a household name within the Newar community and paved the way for her entry into mainstream Nepali cinema.
Her transition to the broader Nepali film industry was marked by her 2013 debut in Antaraal, for which she received critical acclaim and a popular debut award. Since then, she has starred in over a dozen films, including notable projects like "Adhakatti"—which earned her the Best Supporting Actress award at the 8th Dcine Awards—"Bato Muniko Phool 2," "Radhe," and "Love You Baba." Beyond her acting prowess, Ashishma is a trained Sitar player and a singer, having released a solo album titled Nanu as a child and later contributing to several modern and folk music videos like "Lalumai" and "Timro Yadma." Known for her dedication to both her craft and her education, she has balanced a busy filming schedule while pursuing a Master's degree in Rural Development.
