Kathmandu — The premiere of Kamala Miss, directed by and starring veteran filmmaker Neer Bikram Shah, was held in Kathmandu on Sunday evening to a packed and deeply moved audience. What unfolded over the course of the screening left little doubt: this is a film that has the power to stay with people long after the credits roll.
The reaction from the premiere audience was extraordinary. Many were seen wiping tears as they left the hall, describing the film as one of the most emotionally authentic and humanly resonant Nepali films they had seen in years.
About the Film
Kamala Miss is inspired by playwright and literary figure Bijay Malla's celebrated work "Kohi Kina Barbad Hos." The film explores education, child psychology, the unconditional love of a mother, and the psychological weight carried by a dedicated teacher navigating extraordinary personal circumstances. Screenplay and dialogues are co-written by Neer Bikram Shah, Prajal Dulal, and Sugam Dulal.
The cast includes Neer Bikram Shah, Ramesh Budathoki, Basana Timilsina, Shivam Saraf Kshetri, Aarv Dahal, Bhawana Magar, Sushant Kumar Shrestha, Jayant Regmi, Suresh Thapa, Rajan KC, and Sanjay Khatiwada. The film is produced by Uma Malla under Vijay Malla Smriti Pratisthan, with executive producers Umesh Malla and Chaitanya Pradhan.
