Kathmandu — The upcoming film Karki Shaila, starring Jitu Nepal in an entirely new dramatic avatar as a porter (bhariya), has released its first song, "Lagyo Paran," and it has already struck a chord with audiences for its raw folk energy and deeply emotional tone.
The song features vocals by Suk Bahadur Rana Magar, Rupa Karki, and Sailesh Thapa, with words and music composed by singer and composer Dipsan Limbu, who also appears in the film as an actor. The lyrical video features Jitu Nepal in the mountain landscapes where the film was shot — a setting that lends the song an earthy, authentic quality perfectly suited to the story of a hardworking porter navigating love and life in eastern Nepal's hills.
The track draws from traditional folk musical sensibilities, blending emotion and melody in a way that signals the film's intention to root its story in genuine cultural texture rather than polished mainstream sound.
Karki Sainla is directed by Rajendra Basnet, who chose to cast Jitu Nepal specifically to challenge and expand his on-screen identity beyond the comedy that has defined him for decades. The film was shot across Dhankuta, Chatara in Sunsari, and Varahakshetra — locations that give the film its striking mountain and river setting. The cast also includes Priyona Acharya (Munni), Sushil Pokhrel, Virendra Singh Kushwaha, Mansi Sharma, Manil Tamang, Renuka Acharya, Dipsan Limbu, Roda Rai, and Kamal Devkota.
The film is produced under the banner of Karna Bahadur Films Pvt. Ltd., presented by Krishna Bhagat Chamling and produced by Balkumar Rai, with executive producer Sibi Bhandari and distribution by Kuber Films.
