Kathmandu — One of Nepali cinema's most beloved and enduring romantic franchises is back. A Mero Hajur 5 has officially commenced principal photography, with the first shots captured at the sacred and scenic Badimalika Temple in Bajura — a location that immediately gives the film a spiritually and visually distinctive opening.
Director Jharana Thapa is helming this fifth installment, continuing the franchise she has guided since its earliest entries. The opening sequence at Badimalika is being used as an establishing backdrop for the story, after which the team will move through other locations including Achham, Doti, Surkhet, Pokhara, and various parts of Kathmandu.
The franchise's signature lead pairing returns: Salon Basnet reprises her role as Sushma, joined as always by Anmol KC, who despite tight scheduling and other professional commitments has committed a portion of his dates to the project. The team is working around his availability to complete the Anmol-Sushma scenes efficiently.
Fresh additions to the cast include actress Rusha Neupane, who joins the franchise in this installment, and Sagar Khanal, who recently garnered attention for his work in other productions. They join returning cast members Anoop Bikram Shahi, Aarya Adhikari, and Sunil Pokhrel, among others.
The film is being produced by Sunil Films and presented by Anish Karmacharya, with Pradeep Adhikari as executive producer. Story and screenplay are by Jharana Thapa herself, with cinematography by Subash Thebe Limbu and action direction by Binod Thebe. Music will be composed by Arun Thapa, and distribution is confirmed with RR Films.
A Mero Hajur 5 is targeting a theatrical release during Chaitra 2083, arriving ahead of the Nepal New Year season.
