Kathmandu — Known widely for his action choreography across numerous Nepali films, Samrat Basnet has officially stepped into the director's chair, announcing his debut feature film "Durga" alongside a theme poster.
The poster sets a powerful and slightly ominous tone: a young woman stands alone before the doors of a Durga temple, with a trident in the foreground, wearing red. The temple itself has red hues, and the presence of a child figure near the trident suggests a meaningful connection. The red color palette, combined with the mythological setting, hints that the story may involve violence or conflict woven through its spiritual narrative.
Director Basnet confirmed the film's genre: "We will soon share details about the main cast. Some performers will be selected through auditions. The film will be mythological." Shooting is planned to begin in the first week of Ashoj, spanning a 90-day schedule across Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan.
The story is written by Nishchal Dhungana. The film is being produced under the banners of Kushmanda and Global Reel Motion Pictures.
