Kathmandu — Aa Bata Aama 2 has officially commenced principal photography. The production team began filming on Monday morning in Chitlang, Makwanpur, just one day after actress Malika Mahat was formally signed as the film's third female lead on Sunday.
Director Chandra Panta confirmed that the film's shoot will span three locations: Chitlang, Kathmandu, and London, United Kingdom. After completing the Nepal schedule, the team will travel to London to film the remaining scenes, making the sequel an internationally produced follow-up to the hit original.
The film is being shot on a one-month schedule, and features a cast that includes Pal Shah, Malika Mahat, Rista Gurung, Nikita Acharya, Bipana Thapa, Aakash Shrestha, Sabin Shrestha, Pradeep Rawat, Saigres Pokhrel, Gajit Bisht, and Narek Khadka, among others. The story and screenplay are written by director Panta himself.
Aa Bata Aama 2 is being produced under the banner of Arya Entertainment, with Karansingh Rasali as production manager. Distribution in Nepal will be handled by RR Films and digital rights have been acquired by OSR Digital. The film is scheduled to release on Ashoj 30, timed to coincide with the Dashain festival.
The original Aa Bata Aama was one of the biggest Nepali box office hits of last year, collecting nearly Rs. 14 crore and becoming a beloved family film. The sequel carries that momentum and strong pre-release international interest, having already sold out in the United States and Canada.
