Kathmandu — Mitjyu, releasing on Jestha 8, is offering audiences something genuinely rare: the chance to see celebrated dancer Teriya Phounja Magar not just perform a dance number, but carry a central acting role — all in the same film.
Teriya has captivated audiences across Nepal and India through her extraordinary dance performances. But in Mitajyu, she is not present as a guest performer or item dancer. She plays one of the film's principal characters, meaning audiences will experience both her dancing and her acting in a single viewing — a combination that the production team is confident will delight and surprise viewers.
Director Anil Budha Magar, who delivered last year's hit Ghar Jamai, has brought together a powerhouse cast that also includes Saugat Malla and Dayahang Rai sharing the screen for the first time — a pairing that in itself is one of the film's biggest draws. The film is set in a rural Nepali context, exploring themes of friendship, culture, and the miteri bond, grounded in the authentic textures of village life that the director handles with care.
