Kathmandu — The cast of Maharajdhiraj keeps growing more formidable. Just days after announcing her own crime thriller Station, actress Keki Adhikari has been signed for the role of the Maharani in director Parichheda Sen's ambitious period drama.
Presenter Biraj Bisht welcomed her addition warmly: "A heartfelt welcome to the Maharani of Maharajdhiraj. I am deeply grateful for your presence and encouragement."
Keki joins a cast that already includes Pushpa Khadka in the lead role of the king — an actor who sealed his contract with a blood thumbprint — alongside Nir Shah, Aryan Sigdel, Ramesh Upreti, Barsha Raut, Usha Rajak, Hiunbala Gautam, Jayakishan Basnet, Shishir Bhandari, Gajit Bisht, and Asha Poudel, among a total ensemble of over 80 actors. The production team has deliberately assembled a blend of veteran and new-generation talent, and Keki's arrival only deepens that combination.
Maharajdhiraj is directed by Parichheda Sen, whose previous film Premganj was critically well received. The film's story and screenplay are written by Sen himself. Produced under the banner of Chhattreshwar Management Pvt. Ltd. by Ravi Khadka, Shivraj Poudel, and Topendra Bisht, with cinematography by Nabaraj Thapa, the film is scheduled to begin shooting from the Sri Lanka Tapu island in Sunsari, before moving to historical and scenic locations across Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Kirtipur.
The production team has set a Fulpati of Dashain release as their target date.
