Eklo is an ambitious attempt at science fiction in Nepali cinema, a genre that is still relatively unexplored. The first half of the movie is actually decent and engaging. It builds curiosity and sets up the world reasonably well, making the audience interested in where the story might go. However, the second half of the film feels extremely rushed and uneven. Key moments that should have had emotional or narrative weight feel underdeveloped, making the story feel misaligned and slightly off. The production design is another weak aspect. The props and sets feel cheap and underwhelming, which hurts the immersion. Costumes appear rushed and often feel out of place for a sci-fi, post-apocalyptic setting. The idea of an “apocalyptic civilization” and a kingdom is interesting, but the execution falls short. With only around 20–30 actors on screen, the world feels empty and lacks the scale needed to make the civilization believable. Overall, Eklo has a promising concept and a decent first half, but the rushed second half, weak production elements, and lack of world-building prevent it from reaching its full potential. It’s a commendable effort for Nepali sci-fi, but one that needed more time, polish, and coherence to truly stand out.

Eklo is a new step for Nepali cinema, exploring this version of Sci-Fi genre probably for the first time. The soundtrack is well-used, enhancing the characters and screenplay, and fitting the screen-time perfectly.. The visuals are strong without being overdone, and the human-robot relationship is touching and fits the plot, even though it draws inspiration from WALL-E. Filming in Upper Mustang adds a natural sense of distance and isolation, helping to create the post-apocalyptic atmosphere. Overall, the movie is good, especially considering it is the first of its kind in Nepal, though it does feel inspired by existing plots and characters. However, the film struggles to convincingly show a futuristic world, likely due to budget limitations. Props and sets feel weak and cheap, costumes appear rushed and out of place, and the “apocalyptic civilization” and kingdom feel empty with only 30–40 actors. The plot loses focus at times, and pacing is inconsistent. The weakest points are prop design, set design, and the limited use of extras, which make large-scale scenes feel sparse. All-together Eklo tries something new in visuals and storytelling in many areas, making it an bold attempt at Nepali Sci-Fi. (Despite its ambition, the film suffers from several plot holes, making it feel like it entered production without adequate script iteration and narrative validation)
